2BC KidZ Love Jesus!
Enter the children's areas, and you will often hear this phrase shouted with much enthusiasm. It's actually our attention signal, but it's also the foundation of our Children's Ministry- we love Jesus! We want to know Him and want to learn to be more like Him each day.
The life of today's child is busy, busy, busy! We believe that a growing relationship with Jesus and other Christians is vital in helping kids make sense of their busy world. It is our vision to help all children develop a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
2BC KidZ experience the love of God through:
Babies through 5th grade children are actively involved in Discipleship activities on Sunday Mornings and Wednesday Evenings.
Preschool children (babies through Kindergarten) are introduced to the Bible through stories, songs, crafts and most especially love. A child's first understanding of a loving God comes from meaningful experiences with loving adults.
Grade School children (1st-5th grade) take the foundation received in Preschool Ministry and learn to apply it to their daily lives. Biblical truths are presented each week to the children in both large and small group settings. Through Daily Challenges, the children learn to live out their faith and begin to understand what it truly means to be a Christian.
Our children come from all over the city and enjoy time just hanging out together.
We have movie nights on the night of the quarterly Family Gathering where kids come, watch a movie, eat popcorn, and hang out in the game room or art room.
The Fall Festival at Lake Nixon is a great time with friends and guests with hayrides, roasting marshmallows, games, inflatables, and Trunk-N-Treat.
Other community building opportunities pop up throughout the year to help the children learn to depend on their Christian friends for acceptance, and support as they grow in their relationship with Jesus and with one another.
Children are naturally egocentric but also have the amazing ability to love and accept all people. We want our children to be "kingdom minded" and learn that the Kingdom of God reaches far beyond the walls of Second Baptist.
The children are given opportunities throughout the year to be Christ to those in our city and state through activities such as raising money during VBS for Heifer International, sending books and school supplies to children in Helena/West Helena, participating in a Downtown Cleanup, and others. The grade school children participate in a pen pal program with children in South Africa and have sent school supplies along with regular letters as a way of helping them begin to think globally in mission.
Second Baptist is richly blessed in the arts. Children at Second have the opportunity to freely express themselves to God in many ways. To learn more about how our children learn to praise God with their hands, voices, and bodies, check out our Children's Worship Arts Page
