Welcome Young Adults

This is the place to come to find out what is happening in 2BC's Young Adult Department.  Here you can check our upcoming events, stay connected through prayer, and get involved in the ongoing opportunities our department has to offer.

Prayer Requests

One of the ways the young adults at Second Baptist Church support each other is through sharing the joys and burdens of life with one another.  We pray for each other daily.  We regularly circulate prayer requests by email as a way to stay connected despite each individual's hectic schedule.

Men's and Women's Lunch

The guys gather for lunch at Hog Wild Café (4629 McCain, NLR, across from Wal-Mart) the first Wednesday of every month at 11:30 A.M. for lunch. Come and join us or contact Chris Maloch at cmaloch@sbcglobal.net for more details.

Mission Opportunities:

Dame Christmas Memorial – Many years ago, 2BC helped a young lad by purchasing shoes for him during Christmas time. When this man died, he left a fund to 2BC with the purpose of helping the less fortunate during Christmas time. We take pride in continuing that tradition to this day.

Lake Nixon – Nearby Lake Nixon is home to some of 2BC’s fellowship activities, but the facilities are also used in times of need. Lake Nixon was most recently used to house refugees from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Hurricane Katrina Relief – Many of our members in 2BC YA have joined forces with others in the church to help bring relief to those lives devastated by the fall 2005 events on the Gulf Coast.

Helena/West Helena – Help us out as we help our neighbors in one of the poorest areas in America.

South Africa – Starting in 2007 and continuing in 2008, we travel to Johannasburg to spread Christ’s love to an area that has been devastated by poverty and AIDS.

YA Greeters – Come by Sunday and prepare to see a member of YA greet you at the front door.

Community Building Opportunities:

Friendly Fours - Small groups of four families meet once a month for four months out of the year. Allows our families to get to grow closer to each other on a more informal basis.

Marriage Enrichment - Come join us as we take our marriages to new heights. Past marriage enrichment activities have included a personality seminar and a book study on Dr. Gary Chapman’s The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted. Future plans include a second book study and a Valentine’s Day parent’s evening out.

YA and Senior Adult gatherings - Opportunities for the young and old families to enjoy dinner and get to know each other more.

Breakfast - Each week, two of our families bring doughnuts and juice to Bible study for the class to enjoy

Random Events - Our family loves to care for each other during times of need. Whether its providing meals to members in times of need or helping out with a move, we always strive to support each other in a matter expected from a follower of Christ.
