Desserts & Advocacy
After a great Sweet Justice series last year we're doing it again this summer. Come and learn about some of the most pressing issues in our world and take the first step in making a difference. We'll start at 5:45 and we'll finish with some 'sweet' desserts made by our very own 2BC members. The topics:
June 2 - Human Trafficking in Arkansas – Stephanie Jira, Central Arkansas Director of Not for Sale
June 9 - ONE Campaign – Adam Phillips, Faith Relations Manager ONE Campaign
June 16 - Education and the African American Community - Judge Wendell Griffin
June 23 - Immigration in Arkansas – Catholic Bishop, Anthony Taylor
June 28-July 1: New Millennium/Bale Elementary Academic Program
(We'll be helping out with their summer academic program for about 20 children)
June 30 - Human Rights – Shannon Avra, UALR Professor
July 7 - Homelessness in the Rock - Jimmy Pritchett, Homeless Services Coordinator and Amanda Hinojosa, Day Resource Center Director
NOTE: We will meet in the main building fellowship hall for this session
July 21 - Justice Prayer Experience
August 9–12: New Millennium/Bale Elementary academic program
