Brooks Hays Award on Heritage Sunday

Sunday, February 12th

Brooks Hays Award

Join us as we honor the legacy of those who have come before us and made our church what it is today, as well as those who have made a significant impact in God's kingdom around the world.  We'll present the Brooks Hays Award to our special guest for the day: Ruth Shepherd of Just Communities of Arkansas.

Ruth began her career in Little Rock as an English teacher at Hall High School.  After taking more than a decade from full-time employment to raise her children, Ruth served as Communications Vice President of United Way of Pulaski County for 9 years, each year winning local and national awards.  In 2000, Ruth accepted the position of Executive Director of Just Communities of Arkansas.  In addition to her leadership of JCA, she is the lead trainer for JCA and has worked with many groups including Central Arkansas Water, Little Rock Police Department Officers and Recruits, Entergy Arkansas, Laman Library, and numerous other organizations.
Ruth has been recognized with awards by many organizations, including UALR College of Professional Studies, the Stonewall Democrats, Pulaski County Youth Services, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Central Arkansas Pride, and Arkansas Business magazine.

All Church Lunch to Follow

After a special time of worship that morning, we will gather in Fellowship Hall for an all-church lunch together.  We hope you can join us for this wonderful Sunday.
