Logan Carpenter has been serving as the Minister to Families for Second Baptist Church since June of 2008. Logan serves as the youth pastor to students grades 6-12, and he also works alongside the children's ministry associate, Dayna, in facilitating programs for grade school and preschool children. There are most likely many other things he'll end up doing as 2BC works through how best to minister to families as an integral whole within the church body. When he started at 2BC he brought with him his high school sweetheart and wife, Christy, and their daughter Eliana.
As a pastor's kid, Logan spent most of his childhood inside the church building and can thus say he literally grew up in church - specifically in Nashville, TN and Houston, TX. Since he was already in church most of the time, Logan was always involved in numerous church activities. He also played competitive volleyball throughout high school and college (yes, men play volleyball too), and graduated with a B.A. from Texas A&M University in 2004 (whoop). He then continued his education by earning an M.Div. from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in 2008.
Having felt called to fulltime vocational ministry during his senior year in high school, Logan has followed that calling into a variety of positions. He served as a Student Ministry Associate for three summers at University Baptist in Houston. While making his way through seminary, Logan served as the first Youth Pastor for New Journey Church, a church plant in Richmond, and picked up some responsibilities in children's ministry and worship leading along the way. He feels that all these unique experiences have more fully prepared him for his ministry at 2BC.
Logan is passionate about students and helping them to experience God in a very real and personal way. He loves to spend time with kids of all ages in teaching times, in small groups, or just having fun, talking about things that truly matter to them. If you attend a church function and are looking for Logan, go where you see a bunch of kids and look for the big guy.
In his spare time Logan enjoys playing or watching any and all sports. He follows and has a tendency to obsess over all things Aggie (and is greatly looking forward to the renewed rivalry between the Ags and the Razorbacks). He enjoys playing games, and it doesn't really matter what the game is - if it ends with a winner he'll join in. Mostly though, he loves to spend time with his family.
