James Thomason is the Minister to Sr. Adults and Pastoral Care at 2BC, serving since June of 1997. He also ministers to the folks at the Albert Pike Residence Hotel and helps in benevolence ministries at 2BC.

James has two sons, Ethan and Lane, who are adopted from Bolivia.

Born and raised in Arkansas, James graduated from North Little Rock High in 1963. In 1968, he received a B.A. in Psychology from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas, in 1972. He did additional study in the Hebrew Old Testament in 1978 at New Orleans Baptist Seminary. The Doctor of Ministry degree was received by him in 1988 at the Midwestern Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.

James was the Assistant to the Pastor at FBC North Little Rock from 1973-74. He served as pastor of the following churches: Linwood BC, Moscow, AR., 1974-75; Runyan FBC, North Little Rock, 1975-78; Graves Memorial BC, North Little Rock, 1979-1990; and Freeman Heights BC, Berryville, AR., 1990-92.

As a youth, James loved to fish, hunt, and play baseball. When he was 12, he began following Razorback football and basketball games. He also enjoys visiting scenic nature settings and historic sites; watching movies that have redemptive values to them, such as: “To Kill a Mockingbird” (social injustice); Tim Burton’s “Big Fish” (commitment in marriage); “Hoosiers” (inspirational with grace and forgiveness overtones); and his favorite funny, feel good Christmas movie, “Elf.” Mostly, James enjoys good times with family and friends.
