Betsy is the Minister of Discipleship and Spiritual Formation at Second Baptist Church. Prior to serving in this position, she served as the Youth Minister at Second for seven years. As far as family goes, she is single and enjoys the role of proud aunt to her niece and two nephews!
Betsy is a native of North Carolina but grew up in both South Carolina and Georgia. She earned a B.A. in English from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1996. She put in a brief stint at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's extension campus here in Little Rock but can only claim drop-out status. She completed her professional development through participation in a 2-year program sponsored by the Upper Room, the Academy for Spiritual Formation.
Betsy enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially over a good meal. Her favorite vacation destination is the Florida or South Carolina coast with her best friends from college- an annual tradition. She has a love of southern literature, particularly works by Flannery O' Connor and Eudora Welty.
Betsy is passionate about sharing life with the Body of Christ. She believes discipleship (specifically transformation) occurs in small groups where trust, encouragement and accountability are practiced. She is grateful for the many companions God continues to bless her with on her journey towards Christlikeness.
