Why We Laugh A lot
So we figure you’re in the “Visitors” section of the website because you’re wanting to know who we are, what makes us tick, etc.
We’ve noticed that a lot of churches describe who they are in terms of where they’ve been (history), what they believe (doctrine), etc. No criticism from us; we think those things are important, and you can read about them on our website too.
But if we could be so bold, we’d like to add one more thing to the list of what defines a church’s “identity,” and that's how much they laugh and why.
At Second Baptist, we take God very seriously, but ourselves … not so much. That’s not to say that our pastor is a stand up comedian or that everything that happens at our church is a joke.
We believe however, that two of the distinguishing characteristics of a community that loves God and each other are joy and laughter. That takes a lot of different forms (for instance, if you’d like to see a video of our annual church follies, visit us on YouTube). So if you visit Second Baptist, you can expect to find people laughing, playing, and kidding each other any time we are together.
